Today's Idiots
In almost every bookstore a whole section is devoted to Idiot’s Guides. These books teach you the very basics of almost anything you want to know. They teach you on the assumption that you have a low level of intelligence. It doesn’t matter what you're being called essentially, the books are helpful teaching sources. These books are developing a trend of using "idiot" in colloquial language. Many people call themselves idiots or do idiotic things sometimes. It’s common to use the word as a way to describe yourself or your friends but in the past it was used to classify intelligence. Currently in society the word idiot is thrown around as an informal insult but in the past is has had a more serious connotation relating to psychology. The history of the word “idiot” shows that the meaning of the word has changed over time.
